Jane Addams Resource Corporation has let us know that Buddy's received his welding equipment!
An update from JARC and the Benevolent Team Dec 21, 2012
Buddy appreciates the seven generous supporters who helped fund his welding safety gear. Validator Emily says: "It's great so many of our students have had needs met, they appreciate it so much!"
Both the validators and recipients from Jane Addams Resource Corporation will personally update their supporters once they are back from their holiday break.

My need and situation

Hello my name is Buddy and currently I am on the career search for a welding job. I went to a few interviews and found out they are looking for someone who has their own Personal Protective Equipment.
I did a search online and in store searching, as well and I realized that I can only afford one thing at a time and about a month apart.
Right now, my biggest challenge is the fact that I am unemployed and have little or no income coming in. I have to prioitize over things that I want and need. Of course rent comes first and basic necessities for my children and unfortunately, at the bottom of my list is the things I need for future employment.
I need this help for the advancement of my family so I can have better things for my family.
I definitely know now that helping me with this need helps me to be more humble and appreciative of others in need. We can't always do it ourselves. Like the song says, we all need somebody to lean on. For me to have all of these items at once would mean more confidence on my upcoming welding interviews and a better chance at the job. I am really looking forward to starting my career path in the welding field and my heart and mind is set on this.
Meeting this need will help me achieve my future goal of starting my welding career because when I walk into the door of a welding company for an interview and they offer me the job, I don't want my lack of funds for necessary equipment preventing me from accepting the job.
I am not a freeloader and I know when I need help. I know when I can't do it myself. If I am able to receive these welding items, one of my main goals is to pay it forward. I will go back on the Benevolent site and help someone else out.
I live with my fiance, my five kids and my elderly father. I graduated high school from Austin Academy. I also graduated from Olympia College as a Medical Assistant. I am currently enrolled at Jane Addams Resource Corporation, Fast Track for Welding Operators.
I think of myself as a strong, independent, self aware and out spoken person and because of that I can see mistakes I have made in my life. This has made me a better person for my family and as well as family and friends. I'm proud to say that I am the proud father of 2 girls and 3 boys. They look up to me in ways that I will never comprehend.
I think of myself mostly as a loving father and good husband who just wants the best for my family.
I'm most proud of the fact that my kids look up to me as a king and even though in my heart I feel like a novice. It gives me strength to know that they are relying on my strength.
I've worked at jobs including assistant manager, warehouse, shipping and receiving, customer service and product maintenance.
Something interesting about me is I am a people person and I am funny! In all of my previous jobs, coworkers would hope to be on my shift because I gave them motivation and showed leadership.
Each need is validated by a nonprofit that knows the person and can verify that the help is necessary. Funds flow from Benevolent to the nonprofit, which then gets them to the person in need and lets us know how it went. Learn more »

I have known Buddy for two months since he has been in JARC's welding program. I think meeting this need is important because Buddy is very close to getting a welding job but needs this equipment for the job.
This will move Buddy's life forward by increasing his confidence in starting his career path in welding by feeling fully prepared. Buddy is a caring, energetic, leader in class. He's the kind of guy you want to teach because he is open minded and willing to learn.
