Eric from Tucson, AZ

I'm in college and my laptop bag was stolen. A new laptop will get me back on track!

Without a laptop, I've had to stay after-hours everyday using school computers to complete my assignments.

My need and situation

I am a full-time student at Pima Community College. I'm currently studying Game Design and Simulation with a focus in Programming. I'm a high honors student. I have some history in game design studying on my own and have completed an Internship with DreamWorks SKG.

My goals are to create a game studio in Tucson, Arizona. 4 years ago my friends asked me where I pictured myself 10 years from now. I said I wanted to be a game designer. Since then I've been studying on my own and creating what I can. I'm still pursuing that dream. Arizona has a lot of unique artists that I would love to bring together into making video games.

I need assistance in buying a laptop. Last week, my backpack was stolen with my schoolbooks, laptop, and portable game system as well as other personal items, including all my past work in game design. I am receiving help in getting most of my items replaced but need a laptop to get me back on track. I currently have to stay after-hours everyday using school computers to complete my assignments.

Meeting this need will help me because it would allow me to do local meetups and events. I participated in the Global Game Jam on January this year and met a lot of great people that I could build a company with. I would need a laptop to continue to build that rapport as well as to develop my own games and complete my school work.

I know Eric through Arizona @ Work Pima County. He is currently in his second semester and we are assisting him with school costs for his Game Design degree. He has been very driven in going to school and has worked hard to maintain a high GPA. Meeting this need will help Eric forward in that he will be able to stay on task. He currently rides public transportation and has to work his study and homework time around it. He is not able to finish his assignments this way and it has become troublesome for him to use different computers to do his assignment. Once he obtains a laptop, he will be able to move forward with his dream.
