My need and situation
I recently moved into an apartment after being homeless for three years.
My goals are to jump start my career back and work full-time. I want to make my apartment a part of me so that I feel comfortable coming back home after a day of working. When I was homeless I carried everything with me but now that I have my own place, it feels empty and I realized I don't have anything.
Local organizations have been helping me gather some smaller move-in supplies like dishes, bedding, and toiletries. However, I'm having trouble affording furniture items. I need a bed and mattress, equipment to set up a home office, and dining set.
Meeting this need will help me because it will help me feel secure in my new home. After feeling absent for so long, I look forward to having a home that helps me feel like I am part of the world again.
