Faith

Faith from Bronx, NY

My daughter's education is so important. W/ a laptop she can start school off right!

With a laptop, my daughter will be able to do her schoolwork at home in a safe environment, rather than having to travel to the library at night.

My need and situation

Hi, my name is Saloma and I am sharing a need of my daughter, Faith. She is a 13-year-old Junior High School student in the Bronx and is getting ready to go to High School.

My daughter would really like to go into the fields of Forensic Science and Law, but her passions also lie in Fashion and Design.

In order to be better prepared for the upcoming school years and to help her succeed in her desired fields, she will need a laptop, so that she can work from home, instead of spending long hours in the library late at night.

If she were to be able to get a laptop, she would be able to do work at home in a safe environment, as well as continue to help me in the house due to my disabilities.

I have been working with Saloma and her daughter, Faith for about a year now at our supportive housing program in NYC. As the assigned Social Worker for the family; I have found Saloma to be one of the most driven people that I have had the pleasure to work with, and a very dutiful mother to her young daughter. Saloma has lived a hard life, growing up in poverty in New York City, however, Saloma has worked diligently and dutifully to provide for her family with the tools needed to succeed. Saloma not only strives to help her family but her community as well. Saloma's daughter Faith is just as driven as her mother in school, and can use this assistance to continue to succeed in her education and further on in life.
