Octavio from Tucson, AZ

I'm training to be an EMT. A laptop will enable me to complete my online classes!

With a laptop, I can complete classes while working full time. This will be my first step towards my dream of becoming a nurse practitioner.

Octavio's laptop is enabling him to complete his program! Mar 12, 2018

Byron, Octavio's validator from Pima County One Stop Career Center, shared with us this message from Octavio:

"I would like to thank Benevolent for providing a platform for support for people in need. I can't begin to explain how grateful I am for the help I received. Having this laptop will enable me to be successful not only for my paramedic program but as I go further in my education! Thanks to Byron from Pima County for taking the time to meet with me and helping me!"

My need and situation

I am a 23-year-old first generation citizen of the United States from an immigrant family. I work as an EMT and am going back to school to further my career in the medical field. I help support my siblings and grandmother with income.

My goals are to attend online classes in January in order to graduate with an Associates in EMS Paramedicine. I enjoy being a first responder and being able to help people in need. It's my first step towards my dream of becoming a nurse practitioner.

I need a laptop in order to be able to do my online classes. My old laptop no longer works. I would be doing my online classes during breaks at work. It could be in an ambulance or in an EMS Room and need one small enough and portable enough to use anywhere.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to move forward with my goals. My work schedule varies and I don't know when I would be able to sit down at a library or school to do my studying.

Validated by Byron from Pima County One Stop Career Center (What does this mean?)

Octavio is working with Arizona @ Work and HPOG HOPES to obtain funding for his Paramedic program. He has a while to wait until he starts but is getting everything lined in place so he is ready. Meeting this need will help Octavio in that his job involves a lot traveling and he would be on call. He doesn't have a specific schedule because of this so this laptop would be beneficial. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
