My need and situation

I need welding gear to obtain employment. This includes welding helmet, welding cap, safety glasses, welding jacket, steel toed boots, welding gloves, welding sleeves, welding pliers, and welding apron. Right now, my biggest challenge is that I need to be able to start a job and not being able to purchase work gear that employers expect me to have during interviews will cost me potential work. I need to be able to get to the next level and the items that I require would put me right at the threshold of work.

My goal is to be able to accept employment as a welder. I would be prepared for any potential job that came my way.

My current situation is that I am presently not working and living in an assisted living home with 250 other people. Meeting this need will help me because it would take a lot of the pressure off of me. I don't have relatives in this state to help me, so it would mean a lot to have the need met.

I think of myself mostly as a peaceful, positive, and productive individual. Something interesting about me is I am a shy person. I'm most proud of the fact that I still have hope and want personal independence. I've worked at jobs including construction tech with AT&T, food service, and maintenance. I would appreciate any assistance that is available.

I have known Tony since he enrolled in our Welding Training Program in December 2012. I think meeting Tony's need is important because Tony is working to get back on his feet financially and in his new career. It will help Tony further his employment goals by having the gear needed to be a welder. This will move Tony's life forward by assisting him in finding welding employment and giving him the confidence to start his career in welding. Tony held a long term job until an accident at work and he was let go. Since then Tony has been self employed and in our training program ready to get back to the manufacturing world. Tony is the kind of student who is always willing to share job leads with other classmates, help other students when they need it the most, lend a hand to those in trouble, etc. Even in Tony's toughest times, he has continued to volunteer at various homeless shelters feeding others in need.
