David from Bronx, NY

I want to be a dance teacher and need help for tuition to get a certificate!

I am turning my life around by focusing on positive things like dancing. A summer intensive course earns me a certificate.

My need and situation

One day, I aspire to be a professional dancer or a dance teacher. Throughout my life, I struggled watching my parents deal with substance abuse, which left me with not too much direction, and led me to make some bad choices and going into Juvenile Detention and later on Probation. Lately, I have been focused on the positive things in my life, and have continued dancing. If I am not able to dance with the stars, I would like to teach youth to dance.

My goals are to attend training to help me stay on a positive road in my life. I want to help inspire youth to enjoy music and dancing as much as I do. I also want to get noticed through my hard work and dedication to dancing.

I need to pay the tuition for classes at the Broadway Dance Center. The program is a summer intensive program. I would use the certification that I earn when applying to dance school as my experience.

Meeting this need will help me because it will help me get further with my dancing career, and will also help me stay out of trouble.

I have been supervising David for a couple months. In the beginning he was shy and quiet, but within time he has shared his fears and struggles. Coming from a broken home he has been resilient to many things. Dancing is one of the things that makes David feel comfortable and safe. Having this opportunity will help David be more proactive, work on his social skills, and build upon his passion.
