Tasha was able to get her car out of the shop, and is very thankful. Tasha can now get to work on time, children to school, child care and to the grocery store. Thank everyone who supported her on her move forward to a better future. Thank You.
My need
Right now, my biggest challenge is getting myself and my children to work and school on time so that I don't lose my job and that my children dont suffer academically. We have been placed in a domestic violence shelter south of Chicago in Tinley Park, but come from Evanston and that's where my job and childcare is. It takes me 2 and half hours each way from the shelter to Evanston.
The car repairs I need include 2 headgaskets, 1 thermostat w/gasket, 2 head blocks, and intake gaskets.
Meeting this need will help me achieve future goals because I'd maintain my schedule, keep my job and seek permanet housing for myself and my two children so we can be more stable.
My situation
My current situation is I am living in a domestic violence shelter with my two children ages 9 years and 10 months. There were no available beds in my area so I was sent to Tinley Park. I work in Evanston and my children each go to school and daycare, one in Chicago one in Evanston and my commute is almost unbearable. My job is at stake because I'm almost always late.
Each need is validated by a nonprofit that knows the person and can verify that the help is necessary. Funds flow from Benevolent to the nonprofit, which then gets them to the person in need and lets us know how it went.

I have known this parent and have been working with her since October of 2011.
I think meeting this need is important because this will start a process and put in motion some goals that she has toward making a better future for her and her children.
This will move the recipient's life forward by providing the much needed transportion to get the family to school, care, and Mom to work on time.
Tasha is a single parent currently commuting from Tinely Park to Evanston everyday. Mom's job and the children's school and childcare center is in Evanston. The family takes a two hour ride which includes a Metra train ride and two CTA bus rides back and forth.
