Tasha from Chicago, IL

I'm newly housed. Help me purchase furniture so I can feel at home.

I am determined to make my new house a home. I need a couch or futon, a bar-height table, and a comfortable chair to improve my living environment.

My need and situation

I'm newly housed after being homeless. I am a single woman, living with disabling conditions. I live with my mother and brother. Now that I have a stable to place to stay, furniture will allow me to live comfortably in my new space.

My goals are to become more independent and improve my health. I hope to eventually open a program for Christian single men and women, providing services for those with special needs, education and arts programming.

I need furniture for my new home. Specifically, I need furniture for a small living room, which also serves as my bedroom. I have been looking for affordable furniture, but my income has not permitted me to purchase it. I'm hoping to obtain a couch or futon, a bar-height table, and a comfortable chair.

Meeting this need will help me because a good night's sleep with support my health! I'm becoming more independent and growing, and furnished home environment will help that.

I met Tasha through our Community Engagement Program, which is a drop-in on Sundays for people experiencing homelessness. Tasha has persevered through obstacles in life, including overcoming homelessness. I've been impressed by her independence and persistent work toward goals.
