My need

I need to get my own laptop so I can find work. This includes a personal laptop computer with all of the basic software and features for networking and storing materials.

I'm currently looking for work and, as you know, the Internet is the only way for pretty much everything nowadays. Having my own personal laptop can help me with quick access to networking and storing my material. It would give me the ability to search for work and also allow me to continue to practice my poetry and music, which has been really important for me to manage my stress and also to stay inspired as I move forward. I'm also planning on having my own business one day and this tool is essential in achieving that.

My situation

I recently moved to L.A. to persue my dreams. I have always wanted to live in this great city of stars. I came to California for a job that didn't work out for me. I would be homeless right now without PATH. I am just trying to get back on my feet and learn how to enjoy myself again and get my life back as I used to have it before. I have made a series of wrong choices, broken relationships, and some career anxiety that has led me to this phase in life.

I'm on a journey . . . on a journey we call "Life." It's been hard and exhausting but nothing good comes easy in this life and after all, "The harder the challenge, the sweeter the prize." Right now my big goals in my journey are to get work and get my own place. Having a lap top would really assist me in doing this!

I have known Jessie for several months and serve as the Residential Associate at the transitional living center where he is staying.

I think meeting this need is important because online networking is critical to finding work. Having mobile access to a computer and the internet will significantly increase his chances of finding employment.

This will move the recipient's life forward by enabling him to get ahead in the job search process and find a stable job. With a steady source of income, Jessie will be able to save money for his apartment.
