Henry bought his household supplies! Nov 21, 2013

We have some great news: Henry now has his new microwave and iron. Thank you so much for your support of Henry and his need!

My need and situation

I am starting from scratch right now in redeveloping my life from being in a transitional shelter to my own place.

I need household items to furnish my new apartment. This includes a microwave and an iron. Meeting this need will help me because it will allow me to keep my clothes pressed and neat and to cook food.

My goal is to get a one bedroom apartment. Getting these items will contribute to my current apartment as well as the next apartment I move into, so it will be a big help if I have these things.

I just moved from a shelter into my own place, and I have a fixed income from disability.

I'm from Chicago and I live on my own in subsidized housing.  I'm most proud of being able to have my own place.  I'm proud of being part of Back On My Feet, as well.  I've been a part of their program for 3 years.  Something interesting about me is that I'm a people person.  I get along with people very well.  I'm a helpful person.  If a person needs a hand, I enjoy helping them out, if I can.  I'm happiest when I'm at home, relaxing, watching television or reading a good book.

I met Henry when he was in search of housing about half a year ago. I think meeting this need is important because Henry has worked hard to obtain his own apartment and to get on disability. Fortunately, he has his apartment and was recently approved for disability. Now he is in need of an iron and a microwave - to keep his clothes neat and eat properly. He does not currently have enough income to purchase these items on his own.
