I have been interning at Hesed House as a case manager since May of 2013.

My work involves helping homeless individuals that sometimes suffer from mental illness and subtance abuse receive services needed in order to get their lives back on track. The services that are provided at Hesed House are substance abuse counseling, mental health counseling, individual, child, and family counseling, employment skills, and free health care.

What I like about my job is making a difference in people's lives so they can feel productive and successful. Many of my clients have had so many hardships and challenges to overcome and they are so appreciative of our services. Each day of my internship I acquire additional knowledge to assist clients.

I have been a pet stylist for 42 years and I felt it was time for a change. I went back to school while working full-time and studied Human Services, it has taken me 3 years to complete the program. Making a difference in peoples lives is a challenge I look forward to.
