Jamila
I work for the Cara Program as an Individual Development Specialist. I have been here for a little over four years now. I moved to Chicago from Texas where I did a year of Americorps service working for a nonprofit serving the Vietnamese community in the Houston Area.
I decided that I wanted to continue to work in the nonprofit sector and found the Cara Program. I was blown away by an organization that was so passionate about and committed to those who are underserved within the Chicago area. I work with individuals to help them become job-ready by helping them with any personal challenges they come across before they get employed and after.
Once they're employed, I stay involved with our participants and their families for at least a year, helping them to navigate the workforce, keep a sense of balance within their personal lives, and achieve their goals.
