Updates

Nathanial is on his way to a CDL! Aug 6, 2015

Nathanial's validator, Kayla, wanted to share an update on Nathanial! She says, "I am happy to report that Nathanial obtained his Class D License yesterday, August 5th. He is thrilled and has already started broadening his job search for positions that require a license. In addition, he has set a date to go for his Class B License! He informed me today that he plans to study this week and sign up for that test by next Friday. We are so excited for Nathanial and grateful to all those in the Benevolent community who made this goal a reality."

An enormous thank you to everyone who stepped in to help Nathanial pursue his goals!

Overview

I am a 58-year-old man currently working at The Salvation Army and trying to excel in my employment. I am looking for a position in custodial/janitorial work, many of which require a license.

My goals include getting better employment so that I can increase my income, get stable housing, and ultimately move up in my career. To start, I plan to obtain my license.

I need to obtain the Class D license which will allow me to then work towards my Class B license. I have passed the written and visual exam and need a vehicle to complete the exam. I want to participate in a Driver's class to take my driving test and the school requires a $250.00 payment.

Meeting this need will help me because it will open the door to more employment opportunities in the janitorial field. Once I find employment in this field, I will be able to move on in my career goal of working for the City of Chicago Sewer Department.
