Michael from Chicago, IL

Marine eager to start fresh. I need furniture to build a stable home for my family!

I currently serve in the US Marine Corps Reserves. My goal is to start over in Chicago & furniture will help my family build a stable sense of home.

Overview

I am a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps. I'm 28 and a 10-years Veteran. I’ve served two tours overseas and now I currently serve in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. I have found that making a difference in the community is one of the most important things a person can do, which is why for over 5 years I ran the Toys for Tots program in Florida to raise toys for kids in need.

My goals are to get settled in Chicago after our recent move to start over and try to get a good paying job that is full time and be able to continue my reserve duties.

I need support to raise money to be able to buy furniture for a home. I have hopeful thoughts that we will have our own place soon; I live with my wonderful fiancee, her amazing son, and my beautiful daughter. I also need help with fuel cost to get to and from job interviews and a job soon, I hope. But that’s another story.

Meeting this need will help me because I believe that as we pick ourselves back up and start moving in the right direction again, we count on wonderful people to be able to assist us on our way. And when we get blessed with a home and a job, then we can do what we love to do, and that’s return the favor and help other people ourselves. Thank you for taking your time to review this profile.

I met Michael and his family through Center for Changing Lives' employment and housing program. After relocating from Florida, some family members referred them to CCL, and we have been exploring Michael and his fiancee's employment options and locating suitable housing. Michael is a dedicated family man and very committed to the idea of community and paying it forward. I know that once he is settled, Michael will be able to launch a career that is as altruistic as he is.
