Overview

I am someone who has been homeless for the past 12 years. I'm 38 years old and finally getting my first apartment. I've been staying at the Lincoln Park Community Shelter, where they've helped me find tremendous responsibility, value, and care for myself.

My goals are to appreciate having a stable home, and develop responsibility to maintain my first place ever. I am working to improve and stabilize my health, so that I can continue to remain housed. I desire to live a fulfilling life, to love myself, and so that I can love others and help others just as I have been helped. Now that I will have my own place, I can continue going to school to obtain my high school equivalency, and to eventually become a medical assistant. I am passionate about caring for others.

I need assistance with first month's rent and deposit for my new home. This will total $150, as I am getting a subsidy.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to move into my first apartment, ending my homeless situation. I never want to return to homelessness. This will allow me to move forward with continuing to love and serve other people.

Patrick and I have been working together since he began staying at the Lincoln Park Community Shelter last winter. He has truly been a joy to work with, as Patrick has been extremely driven to improve his circumstances. He tirelessly works toward his goals. Patrick shows compassion for all people he encounters.
