Dewone from Tucson, AZ

Veteran who recently returned home. I need to fix my car to reach job opportunities!

I recently finished 8 years of service in the Navy. Transitioning into civilian life has been tough, and fixing my car will help me move forward.

Updates

A thank you message from Dewone Sep 27, 2016

Dewone's validator Byron from Pima County One Stop Career Center shared this exciting update with us:

Dewone says, "I would like to thank everyone that made this possible. I really needed to get my car fixed and if it were not for all of your help that would not have been possible. Thank you all very much!"

Overview

I am a veteran of the U. S Navy and I recently got out after 8 years of service. I have 3 sons and 2 daughters. Currently, I am attending Pima College after earning a certificate from the Art Center of Tucson, Arizona. It has been quite difficult obtaining steady income, as my position in the Navy did not translate into a career in the civilian side of life very easily.

My goals are to find stable work as a civilian while I complete my education to enter a career in graphic arts. I have to work with what I have been given but I have to be able to get to school, work, and be able to get my kids to school. It is nearly impossible to survive in this modern world without transportation.

I need to make some repairs to keep my car running. I have been having some car troubles and I am not in a financial position to buy a new car.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to continue my education and get to work, meetings, appointments for the kids, go the grocery store that is a big one when there are so many kids, and transportation is a must.

I met Dewone through a fellow case manager at Arizona @ Work. He is a motivated individual who is supporting his family working two jobs and also trying to go to school in order to become a graphic artist. He was referred to me to obtain assistance for car repairs which he relies on heavily to get to work and drop off/pick up his children at school. He is currently using most of his income to support his family which is why receiving help from Benevolent would be greatly appreciated. Meeting this need will help him immensely in that he will not have to make other arrangements in finding transportation.
