I'm overcoming homelessness. Furniture will let me build the stability I need!

I recently found full time work and housing! Some basic furniture will give me a place to sleep, read, study, and feel comfortable as I continue to rebuild!

Overview

I am a 53-year-old man who was homeless and has just recently come into housing. I'm a graduate of Inspiration Corporation and was also working at the Growing Home training program. I have now found full-time work as a Cook at IHOP.

My goals are to go back to school to become a Press Brake Operator, get a nice paying job after graduation, and to be stable.

I need a dresser to store my clothing and some furniture for the apartment, such as a kitchen table, chairs, maybe a recliner, and a microwave. The furniture would make me feel comfortable, since I have nothing to sit on at the moment. It would also allow me to have some space to read and study since I am a student at the Jane Addams Resource Corporation. I would truly appreciate the assistance.

Meeting this need will help me because I believe that one should have stable housing for rest, bathing, and cooking food. The items I am hoping for will allow me to do these things and turn my apartment into a home.

James and I have known each other almost seven months now through the Lincoln Park Community Shelter. I have seen James’s hard work and determination firsthand; when we first met, he was attending Truman College to get his GED as well as Inspiration Corporation in order to get culinary training. Since then, he has demonstrated outstanding work at the Growing Home training program and has now found a full-time job and his own apartment! Meeting this need will allow James to be able to turn his new place into a home and to enjoy the results of his hard work.
