Overview

I am Marie and I have two daughters who are 3 and 16 years old. I have been clean for 13 months and I am currently a single parent and I am on disability, so I have very limited income and cannot afford to buy furniture. In the past 14 months, I have obtained my CNA license and begun building healthier relationships with myself and my community.

My goals are to go back to school to further my education to eventually work in psychiatric rehabilitation.

I need a bed and two dressers for my 16 year old daughter who will be returning home soon. She needs a bed as a requirement from the court for me to maintain custody. I would also like her to have her own space, because she is a growing teen. She has special needs and works very hard at school and is very involved in church activities. I’m very excited for her return home and really can’t wait for all of us to be a family again. I recently located a new apartment which is a much better living space, but I had to throw away a lot of my furniture from a previous apartment because of bed bugs.

Meeting this need will help me because then everyone will have their own living space and the three of us won't be crowded together. Until my daughter is able to come live with me, so that I know all day every day that she is safe and provided for, I cannot focus on other goals. Once this need is met, I will be able to focus on moving forward in my education and being role model for my daughters.
