Overview

I am a 38-year-old single mother of five children. I recently graduated from inpatient rehab and am now determined, excited and ready to begin my new life.

My goals are to acquire a full-time job and to attend college during the day to be a Recovery Support Specialist. I want to assist people with drug addiction to rebuild their lives, and support my family.

I need a 26-inch mountain bike to get around town to jobs and to school. I cannot get a drivers license at this point, so a bike would be amazing to get from point A to point B. I would be very grateful for this.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to get to work and school without depending on the bus system, especially working nights when buses do not run. It would also help me to be more self sufficient and support my family.

I met Katrina while she came to the Pima County One Stop to receive funding for her training. She wants to become a Recovery Support Specialist and a Behavior Health Technician to be able to help people who were in the same situation she was in. She is looking for a job right now that will allow her to continue her schooling but the hours she wants to work do not coincide with the bus schedules. Obtaining a bike will allow Katrina to apply for more jobs and to eventually work and attend training.
