Car repairs so my family can get to work and school safely

Our family needs reliable transportation so my kids can get to school safely, my wife can get to work, and I can go to job interviews on-time.

I would like to update Charles's generous donors on his progress! Charles and his family were able to get necessary car repairs that ensured safe and reliable transportation. Thankfully for the car, he is able to get to interviews! Charles continues to job search and will hopefully find a job in the IT field soon!

Thanks from Charles: Mar 22, 2013

Thank you so much for the donations to get my car repairs. Now that the car is reliable it has aided me in my job search; I am now able to go to interviews and also get my children to school and my wife to work.

Overview

I need car repairs to support the day to day needs of my family and to be able to get to work. This includes fixing the electrical issues, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, oil leak, transmission and antifreeze fluid flush and labor costs.

Right now, my biggest challenge is getting my family where they need to go i.e. work, school, and doctors appointments. Currently, the toughest thing I am facing without a car is that I am wearing a walking boot which makes my 2 hour public transportation commute very difficult.

Our car breaking down would be detrimental to our family and would prevent us from going to work and school.

Meeting this need will help me achieve future goals because I will more likely be able to get to interviews on time and hopefully land an IT job which will help me provide better for my family.

My current situation is that I am in a career transition at the moment. I worked as a bus driver for ten years and recently have been out of work due to health issues. Due to my health issues, I am forced to make a career change. I have always been interested in computers and the IT field. I am currently attending a Computer Support Specialist Training at Jane Addams Resource Corporation. Due to the fact that I am unable to work as a bus driver at this time, my family has been on a tight budget. While I take public transportation to school, my family relies on our car as their sole means of transportation. The finances we have are being used for necessities like rent and heat and we cannot afford the needed repairs on our car.

Meeting this need will help me because my wife's biggest fear is that the car is going to break down and she will miss work and getting the kids to school. If I could get these necessary car repairs, I would also us the car to go to on IT interviews. I am hoping to find an IT job after I graduate this training program and a car would really assist me in my job search.

I think of myself mostly as a provider for my family. I am dependable, hard working employee and a loving father and husband.

I'm most proud of my three children. I will also be proud of myself when I pass our A+ exams in JARC's training program.

I went to school at Pensacola Christian College and Jane Addams Resource Corporation. I've worked at jobs including bus driver, valet, stager/loader, security officer, and advertising representative.

Something interesting about me is I like putting computers together and taking them apart.

I have always worked hard and been the sole provider for my family and I feel bad right now not being able to provide for my family due to my recent health problems.

I have known Charles since he enrolled into JARC's Computer Support Specialist-IT training program in October of 2012.

I think meeting Charles's need is important because his family depends on this car for work and school while he is in training. He is worried due to the car having issues that it will break down on them and they won't have a way to bring in any income. They have always been a self-sufficient family but due to Charles's health issues, they are going through a very rough time.

This will move Charles's life forward by assisting the family when they need it the most.
