Steven from Chicago, IL

I'm on my path out of homelessness. Need transportation funds to land a job!

I need funds for transportation to-and-from job interviews, and some new clothes and shoes to present myself professionally.

I am 28 and have lived in Chicago my whole life. I'm currently living in a men's shelter and am working closely with an employment coach who is helping me to find a job. I'm working hard on my own to look for work and I have a lot of dreams connected to the kind of work I want to do. I'm excited to make them come true.

One of my goals is to find a new job where I can learn and have new job skills. My second goal is to find more permanent housing. Once I'm settled with a job and housing, I'm looking forward to furthering my education at a vocational school or community college.

I need money for transportation to-and-from job interviews, and also some new clothes and shoes to wear for interviews.

Meeting this need will help me because dressing professionally will make a good impression and help me get hired at a job. If I go to an interview dressed well, I know that I will have the confidence to let the employer know that I am an ideal candidate. Once I find a secure job, I know the next step for me will be to find permanent housing.
