Thank you for your donations to Frida's need; she wanted to say this to all of her donors: "Thank you for giving to help me. My journey has been so difficult and at times I feel alone. But now. Thank you for giving. God bless you. I can farm on my land now."

Overview

My name is Frida and I am a 33 year old mother. Starting at the age of 20, I had three children with my first husband, then he left me. The birth of my first child was difficult and I ended up with a leaking obstetric fistula. I didn’t know what was happening to me or that I could seek help. I married again and had two more children, then this husband left me too. I am now raising all five children on my own with no support.

In 2018 I learned what happened to me and I had surgery to fix the fistula. For a long time I have been working as a laborer on someone else’s farm and have learned many farming skills. My goal now is to lease a plot of land of my own and grow corn and beans.

I need funds ($150) to lease a plot of land for a year and buy supplies to start up my own farm.

Meeting this need will help me because I currently only make about 200 kes per day ($2) and with my own land I can make enough to feed and support my children.

Frida lived with an obstetric fistula for 13 yrs. She was abandoned by two different husbands and is a laborer on someone's field in order to support her 5 children. She attended our business and farm skills training and is motivated to lease a plot of land and grow her own food to use and to sell. She is already a skilled farm laborer and we have confidence in her ability to farm her own land. Beyond Fistula will be supporting her and following up with her.
