Winny from Eldoret, Kenya

I am ready to start a farm. Just need to cover the cost of a plot of land.

I need funds to lease a plot of land and buy chickens and goats. I learned farming skills through a local training program and know I will succeed.

Thank you so much Dec 12, 2018

I am so touched by the generosity and God's grace. Amazing that someone so far away would reach out with blessings and support for me and my family. I have leased land and gotten seeds and chickens and goats for a farm. Now I can start tilling it to earn money and keep my family's spirits high. God bless you and keep giving with a good spirit.

My name is Winny and I am a 33 year old mother of five children. My children are 14, 12, 9, 7, and 5 years old. I am a casual laborer and work wherever I can to support them, feed us, and pay for my children's school fees. The birth of my fourth child was prolonged and painful and caused a tear in my called a fistula. For seven years I leaked urine and feces and smelled so that I felt ashamed and people did not want to be around me or to hire me. Now I have had surgery and am repaired and healthy and dry. I am strong and a hard worker and want to be in control of my life.

My goal is to work as a farmer. Now that I am healthy I can do physical work without pain. Farming will support my family better and I will be in more control of our finances.

I need funds ($200) to lease a plot of land and buy chickens and goats. I learned farming skills though an organization called Beyond Fistula and now I have the skills to run my own farm. It costs $100 to lease land and $100 for seeds/chickens/goats.

Meeting this need will help me because I have the skills, the health, and the motivation to work to support my family, the only obstacle is the capital to start. Once I have land, chickens, and goats, I can start making money to feed us and pay for my children’s school fees.

Thank you for helping Winny fund this need.

Winny is a strong willed and positive woman. She had been living for the last 7 yrs with the shame and isolation that results from having an obstetric fistula. Finally finding our organization, Winny has been surgically repaired and has a new and improved attitude towards life. She has just completed a business and farm skills training through Beyond Fistula and is motivated and armed with her new skills to expand her farm. She currently has a very small plot of land. With this support, she can lease a larger plot of land and begin raising animals and she can grow food to feed her family and to sell. She has the support of our program behind her. We will be following up with her to assure her success.
