Sharon from Eldoret, Kenya

I've learned to be a tailor; with a sewing machine I can support my family.

I've learned vocational and business skills; now I need $200 to buy a sewing machine and fabric. I will support myself & my child through tailoring.

Overview

I am a 22 year old wife and mother of one. When I gave birth the labor was long and difficult, and afterward I had pain and leaking. I was very ashamed. Then I learned that I had a fistula and I got surgery to fix it. Now I am healed and dry.

My goals are to open my own tailoring business. I am taking a tailoring vocational program through an organization called Beyond Fistula, and when I graduate I want to earn income by tailoring for my village.

I need $200 to buy a sewing machine and fabric.

Meeting this need will help me because I need to earn money for my child and I have the skills to do tailoring. I am motivated and capable. All that stands between me and a good future for my family is money to start my business.
