Sally from Eldoret, Kenya

I've been subsisting on leased land. With help I can buy a plot and farm it!

I have recently recovered from surgery & I'm ready to provide for myself. With $200 to buy a plot of land I can use my farming skills to build a life.

Sally: "Thank you!" Dec 9, 2020

God bless you for your good heart. With this help I con grow enough to feed myself and sell the rest at market. I am grateful. May you live a long and blessed life.

Overview

I am a 35 year old farmer. Two years ago my husband and I got pregnant for the third time (after two miscarriages), and the birth was very difficult. Eventually our baby was stillborn and I was left with a leaking hole called a fistula, and my husband abandoned me.

My goals are to buy land to expand my farm and sell more crops. I have been farming and selling crops on leased land, but it is not big enough to feed me and earn at the market. Now that I have had surgery to fix my fistula, I feel healthy and can work longer on more land.

I need $200 to buy a plot of land. I completed a farm skills program with an organization called Beyond Fistula after I had my surgery. With my new land, I will use these skills to provide for myself and save money for when I have children.

Meeting this need will help me because I want a better life. I want to have children and provide for them so they can eat well, dress in clean clothes, and get an education. Having my own plot of land will help me do that.

Sally is a very strong young woman. She has suffered with a fistula and with losing two pregnancies and and an infant she carried to term. After her surgery, she went through our farm skills program, and now she is well equipped to expand her business successfully. Sally is hopeful for the first time in a while, and we at Beyond Fistula will support her while she gets her business off the ground.
