Richard from Queens, NY

The pandemic interrupted school. I need a laptop to finish high school & find work.

I'm so close to getting my diploma-- and starting a career. I'm stuck without options during the pandemic, but a laptop will change that.

My name is Richard and I am 20 years old. I am currently enrolled in high school and I am experiencing issues with completing my online school assignments as a result to the COVID-19 pandemic. I was supposed to graduate in March of 2020, however at this time my graduation has been delayed because I am unable to finish my assignments online, as unfortunately I don't own a computer this time.

Owning a laptop will give me the ability to engage in Groups and FaceTime calls with my teachers and complete my assignments in a timely manner. My goal is to graduate & finally be able to focus on life such as learning a trade like construction work or chasing my dream of becoming a lawyer in the future.

Owning a laptop will allow me to complete my classwork, provide me access to other resources such as online OSHA 30 training, & help me to attain my goal of finishing high school and securing employment .

Meeting this need will allow me to prosper in life as I will become a High school graduate and will be able to move on to trade or law school which will help me to develop the necessary skills I need to grow and prosper throughout life. I will be able to obtain secured employment and meet my life goals.

I have known Richard for about 1 year now through the NYC Department of Probation. Richard has shown a great effort on wanting to improve his life. Richard is as he is currently enrolled in High school and was expected to graduate the Spring of 2020 , however as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , his graduation is currently delayed and he has been unable to compete his school assignments as a result to him not owning a computer. Richard is very smart, respectful, polite , calm , honest , and ambitious and is clear about his life goals. Richard receiving help with obtaining a computer will help him to develop confidence , motivation and a sense of accomplishment in his life.
