Overview
I've recently moved into subsidized housing and need furniture for my new apartment. This includes one couch, two end tables, and a coffee table.
Meeting this need will help me because it would allow me to feel comfortable in my home and make it a space of my own. Having a furnished apartment will allow me to put down roots and create a space where I can connect with others as well as have a comfortable space to relax when I'm alone. It would also allow me to improve and maintain my relationships with my family and friends by giving me a space in my home to entertain them.
My goal is to maintain my subsidized apartment and have healthy relationships with family and friends.
My current situation is that I recently moved into subsidized housing. I have experienced homelessness in the past. I have a disability that makes it hard for me to speak clearly and I am unable to work. I often have trouble communicating with people and this has made things difficult for me.
* You may have noticed that Steven's "Needed By" date has changed. In the spirit of the holiday season, Benevolent has extended all December dates through the first of the year.
I'm from Chicago. I live with my sister and nephew.
I'm most proud of myself because I've changed my life and I am a good man.
Something interesting about me is that I like to help kids and am a good step dancer.
I'm happiest when it's summertime because the weather is warm.
Need funded!
Thank you for helping Steven fund this need.

We met when I began working at Inspiration Corporation. Steven is a resident in our supportive housing program. I provide him with case management services.
I think meeting this need is important because in order to truly feel at home in his new space, he needs furniture. This would allow Steven a space to relax and to feel comfortable inviting family and friends to visit on occasion.
Steven is an active and engaged participant of our program. Steven has a disability that makes it hard for him to speak clearly, but despite this he has been actively involved in case management. Some of Steven's long term goals are to get his GED and look into possible employment options.
