I'm a mother of two working to support my children. With help I can start a business.

I need $250 for materials for basket making. I use fibers from sisal to make the bags but without help I can't buy the materials to get started.

Hello. I thank you kindly for your help to me. Now I can make the Kiondo and sell for support my children. God bless your good soul, thank you.

Overview

I am a 48 year old mother of two and fistula survivor. Twenty two years ago I had obstructed labor and labored for one week and ended up with a fistula. My husband abandoned me after this. I lived with fistula until this year when I got repair surgery.

My goals are to earn money for myself and my two children to live. I completed a Kiondo basket weaving workshop with an organization called Beyond Fistula. I would like to make more of these bags and sell them to earn money.

I need $250 for materials for basket making. I use fibers from the sisal plant to make the bags and I must purchase them to get started in my business.

Meeting this need will help me because I have the skills and motivation to have this business. I need to earn for myself and my children to eat. All that is standing between me and a successful business is the money for the materials to start.

Gladys is a strong, shining woman. She lived for 22 years with a fistula - longer than I can even imagine. And in that time she raised her two children on her own, scraping together income wherever she could find it. I have seen her eagerness to learn in our Kiondo bag weaving workshop, and I know she will apply this savvy to her new business.
