Overview
As a human being, an immigrant and a nurse, I left my home country of Congo in 2017 due to the insecurity and lack of safety for myself and my family. The process of immigrating was long and challenging and I have now been in the US for the past two years and am eager to get back to the profession of nursing in my new home.
Right now my main goal is to study English and become completely fluent. I see this as something that is really important to continue my studies and advance my career. Once I am fluent, I can start down the road of becoming a certified nurse in the United States.
A computer is absolutely essential for being a student in the US and this is what I am raising money for. Although I have a minimum-wage job, I support two children in the US and two children in Congo. After paying for housing, utilities, childcare and food, I currently have no extra spending money.
Meeting this need will help me because right now a lot of classes and educational opportunities are available exclusively online. With access to these opportunities, I will be able to improve my English skills and work towards my nursing career, which will give me a higher salary and ultimately allow me to better provide for my family, without the support of others.

I have worked as Sarah's clinical case manager for the past couple months. This means I work alongside her to meet her ongoing needs and to troubleshoot any challenges that may arise. During my time working with Sarah, I have seen her provide her family, both near and far, with so much dedicated support, love and care. The process of rebuilding one’s life in a new country is difficult and it would be incredible to see Sarah get the support needed to now prioritize her educational and career aspirations as well.
