Overview
I am a 43 year old, mother of 6, fistula survivor. I developed a fistula during childbirth. After 9 years of living in shame because due to the fistula, I was finally able to get the surgery to repair it. At Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital, I learned about different workshops where I could learn entrepreneurial skills. I recently finished a basket-weaving training workshop.
My goal is to create a business where I can make and sell baskets. I want to be able to support myself and my big family.
I need $300 to get materials to create the baskets. I will need fibers from the Kenyan Sisal plant to start my business.
Meeting this need will help me support and raise my 6 children. I currently stay at home taking care of my children and the house, however having so many mouths to feed creates a huge financial burden and I would love to help support my family.

Esther is a strong woman who has suffered from fistula for 9 years. After 9 terrible years, she finally received the surgery at Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital that repaired her fistula and she is ready to make an income and support her large family. She took a basket-weaving workshop that she loved and is eager to put those new skills to use. I have complete confidence in Esther to be successful when given the materials she needs to start.
