My goal is to live and eat normally and be able to eat a healthy diet that will regain my weight. Then, I'll be able to keep up with my activities.

Overview

I need dentures (upper and lower),  for a complete reconstruction of my mouth.  The $780 will get me the upper denture only, which I will have reconstructed first.

My goal is to live and eat normally and be able to eat a healthy diet that will regain my weight. I hope to not be in pain everyday.

Meeting this need will help me because I would be able to eat better, chew my food easier, and would be able to regain some of the weight I have lost as a result of not having adequate teeth.

My current situation is I am stuck on a budget and am not able to pay for this expensive procedure out-of-pocket. Because of my dental struggles, I am not able to eat any food that is not soft--this causes me to lose weight often and creates constant pain in my mouth.

I'm from Chicago. I live by myself in an SRO apartment for homeless women. I'm most proud of myself because of all of the accomplishments I've made in the last three years. I am a caring and responsible person who is very concerned about elderly people and making them feel worthwhile. I'm happiest when I'm comforting senior citizens.

Something interesting about me is that I like to cook, sew, and make jewelry.

We met when I had already heard so many good things about Johnnie Mae. She is known around the social service center as a person who can light up your day with her smile and a hug. Johnnie Mae did not disappoint--I love it when she laughs!

I think meeting this need is important because Johnnie Mae has made so many amazing strides in her life in the past year. She has gotten herself out of a lot, and this need is so basic: she just wants to be able to eat without feeling pain. Johnnie Mae deserves to feel as beautiful as she is!

A good way to attempt being in solidarity with Johnnie Mae would be to challenge yourself to go a day thinking about your teeth once every hour. Set your phone alarm to remind you.

Hard to remember each time? Johnnie Mae has to think about it constantly, all day. She deserves to be pain free and on the road to health and comfort. Fund this need for this amazing woman.
