Faith from Detroit, MI

I'm a single mom overcoming health challenges and a separation. I need beds for my children.

I'm not working because of my health. I'm also going through a separation. I need beds to give my kids to get them off the floor at night.

Thank You Letter from Faith Feb 7, 2014

Dear: Benevolent, Donors & Black Family Development, Inc.

It’s on my mind and heart to send you a letter of thanks.  Last year has been one of hope and despair, but through your kind efforts you’ve made some of my burdens so light.  This past year I used my savings to move me and my 6 children into a home that I ended up losing due to some unforeseen circumstances, taking nothing but the clothes we owned.  All of my things were tossed out on the street because I had no one that was able to help me at the time with storage.  The vehicle I owned died due to engine problems.  Because money is the solution to this dilemma of homelessness, I was desperately trying to find a way to earn money.  In the meantime, I was able to live with family members until I was able to secure my home in Detroit.

I have had to start all over again.  I have been able to regain what I lost through kind strangers who donate what they have.  God is so awesome is all I can say, because it’s his grace and mercies that keep me moving on when at times it feels like I wear the weight of the world on my shoulders.  I seek work, but live in a world that demands certain “experience” for jobs and if I tell people I can learn the job, they do not want to hear that.  I am a young woman challenged with disabilities.  I am unable to stand on my feet for long periods of time.  Poverty and homelessness do tend to exhaust you much faster both physically and emotionally.  I feel this year is my year to regain all I lost in the struggle and I’m positive things will work out for me and my children.

Again, I would like to express my sincere thanks for what you have done to help my family.  Due to your generous donation my children will enjoy a comfortable night’s rest.  My children no longer have to sleep on a cold floor or make shift padding.  For all you have done,  thanks and I appreciate you.  God Bless You!

Sincerely,

Faith & Family

Overview

I need six twin beds/three bunk beds, six mattresses, bed frames, sheets and bed linens. Meeting this need will help me because it will get my kids off the floor and they will be able to get a good night's rest. Also it would relieve a lot of stress from my everyday situation.

My goal is to go to go back to school for phlebotomy training and get a job to provide for myself and my children. I am a good mother who takes my role very seriously and I am also very caring.

I live in Detroit. I have six children: five girls and one boy - ranging from 17 to 4. All are a joy but they all have different personalities. All are very talented and have big goals and ambitions. My family is blessed, loving and giving, and we stick together. I'm so proud of how loving and giving my children are, and how we stick together.

My current situation is I have medical issues that prevent me from working. I have a slipped disc and arthritis.  My goal is to eventually go back to school and get a job to provide for myself and my children.

I'm happiest when I am with my family and able to provide and I'm most proud of my children doing well in school. Something interesting about me is that I have a good heart and I like helping people. I like being a mom, cooking, history and traveling. I am a cheerful giver, loving and I try to remain happy. I have a great testimony and I believe one day I will be able to work and get back on my feet. I also volunteer.

I am putting God first in my life even through my trials. I am going through a seperation. I am going through depression and seeing a therapist.

I met Faith met when she called in looking for assistance through the intake department. I think meeting this need is important because she will be able to help her children succeed and become productive citizens. We feel she is genuine and sincere and she is a mom that is really trying to help her children.
