Kamil from Berkeley, CA

I am a homeless veteran, and I need professional attire to look for work

I have been homeless for five months, and need proper clothing to find employment and eventually housing.

Thank you from Kamil Dec 31, 2013

I would like to thank those who donated the funds for me to buy the necessary clothes to further my education and work career.

When I first arrived to Berkeley I was shocked because of my living situation that I cried and didn't know what to do. I met Ms Crystal Cremer at the BFHP one afternoon and my ENTIRE life turned around immediately. I went from no hope to believing that I can and will accomplish anything I set my mind to.

Ms Cremer helped re-do my resume, and from there on I filled out 25+ resumes and applications, several job interviews throughout the metropolitan area. Ms Cremer believed in me so I stayed faithful to her and seen her for several months straight by only sticking with her agency. I Thank God for strong, compassionate for life, woman like her. She is totally professional and she really cares about finding a job for clients and their well-being.

My life has completely changed cause of Ms Crystal Cremer, that this is jus t a little words to express my appreciation and respect for my Employment Specialist. I would recommend her over anyone.

I need professional interview attire. This includes two pairs of slacks, two dress shirts and one pair of casual dress shoes. Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to have the self-confidence and the working wardrobe when meeting with employers.

My current situation is I am a homeless veteran residing at a men's shelter. I have been homeless for approximately five months.

My goal is to obtain full-time employment in order to achieve the financial stability I will need to eventually find housing. I'm a very compassionate and spiritual man who believes that no matter what your goals are in life you can achieve anything.

I'm from Detroit, MI, and I live in the Men's Shelter in Berkeley, CA. Something interesting about me is that I am the oldest of four siblings and a 3rd generation military brat. I'm happiest when I listen to music and meditate alone. I'm most proud of my accomplishments as a parent and the goals that I have achieved thus far.

I have two boys and two girls. My oldest child is a United States Navy Mid-Shipman, stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

We met when I facilitated the soft skills workshop at the men's shelter. I think meeting this need is important because it will establish Kamil's self-confidence.

Kamil is a Military Veteran, although he is currently homeless he continues to strive for the best. He puts forth all of his efforts to continually meet with his Employment Services Specialist and participates in the soft skills workshops.
