Jay wanted to say "thank you"! Jun 17, 2014

Yesterday i received my work boots, measuring tools & two uniforms. Thanks to you & Benevolent which made this possible. All my needs were met & I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I couldn't be more pleased with the end result of me participating with the Benevolent program, which just reinforces the fact that there are caring people willing to help those who are struggling to help themselves.

Jay has his new gear! Jun 16, 2014

Thank you generous donors! Jay is so grateful and excited to have received his new CNC gear.

Overview

I need gear to help start my manufacturing career. This includes steel toed boots, safety glasses, precision measuring instruments and bus passes to get me to my first job. Meeting this need will help me because it will help me purchase what is needed to perform the duties of my future CNC job.

My goal is to have this need met and it will be less stress when being prepared for work when I start because I will already have the tools I need. My goal is to be at an interview knowing that I have the tools and gear I need to start that new job the next day ready to work on the spot. I need to know that I am ready to begin working and have no concerns about being prepared to perform my duties as a new employee. I like to be ready to get the job done. I am a hard worker! I have worked in grocery for over 25 years and I am very excited to start a new career in manufacturing and do something new with my life.

My current situation is I have been unemployed for some time, I do have a background but am moving forward with my life in a positive direction and getting back on my feet by enrolling in this training program. My budget does not allow me the capacity to afford this equipment required to start this new line of work.

I'm from Chicago, IL. I'm proud that I am reinventing myself to do something I believe I will really enjoy. I truly believe in family love regardless of circumstances: true family love has no barriers, is forgiving and unconditional. This is how I was raised. I have a 21 year old son whom I am very proud of and I also have a grandchild. I'm happiest when I am working and creating crafts from scraps and junk around the house and creating something from nothing. Something interesting about me is I enjoy sewing and making clothing, and being the home repairman.

We met when Jay enrolled into JARC's Manufacturing Bridge Program. I also know Jay through his active involvement with a non custodial Father's group called Fathers, Families, Healthy Communities. Staff involved with this program always spoke so highly of Jay that I am very excited he is enrolled in JARC's training programs now. I think meeting this need is important because it will give Jay extra confidence when it comes to interviewing and entering into a new career field. Jay is proud that he is building a new life for himself and moving forward to bigger and better things!
