Overview

I'm from Eritrea, and I came to the U.S as a refugee in 2011. I live in San Jose, CA. Something interesting about me is that I can speak four languages. I'm happiest when thinking about my homeland and being able to work. I'm most proud of when I was working hard back home. I have a good life back home. However, due to political reason, I was forced to leave my country.

I need an eye exam and new glasses. Meeting this need will help me because of my daily performances and completing my daily activities.

My current situation is my old glasses are not useful anymore, and I would need a new pair to help me see more clearly without getting lost.

My goal is to be able to have a clear vision so I can read, see street signs, and when attending English classes I can see the board.

We met when he was referred to our center for services about two years ago. The client arrived to the United States alone, leaving behind his family. He was forced out of his country due to political reasons. He has been isolating himself from the community and has limited friends for support.

I think meeting this need is important because he will be able to improve on his activities of daily living and therefore improve his overall social functioning.

He is a very hard worker and has been providing for his family for a long time. Leaving his family behind has been a difficult decision for him.
