Aisha wanted to share a letter of thanks: Mar 13, 2014

Dear Supporters,

I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from Benevolent for raising the funds that I need to repair my car, and shocked at how quickly this happened. While I have always been driven to succeed, and in finding suitable employment for my skill set, the uplifting feeling I received from this support will push me even harder to reach my goals. Thank you so very much for allowing me this opportunity at a promising future. Thank you also for showing me the power of the heart and the reward of giving.

God bless you,
Aisha

Overview

I need a few repairs made to my car in order to continue my job search and to commute once I do find another job. I live within the city, but jobs in my line of work are in the surrounding suburbs. While I could not pay for an official inspection, the mechanic was nice enough to let me know that the problem is related to the tie rods and axle and gave an estimate for parts and labor. As I am currently out of work, I cannot afford these repairs. If you could help out, I certainly would appreciate it.

Meeting this need will allow me to continue my job search without the barrier of lacking transportation. Having reliable transportation will not only allow me to make it to interviews. It will also allow me to be a reliable, punctual employee and retain my job. Once I am employed again, I do plan to pay it forward!

My biggest goal is to resume my career. Being unemployed has left me struggling financially, and I need to continue payments on my house and begin to save again. This will not only give me peace of mind; it will allow me to maintain a pleasant home for my children and grandchildren to visit.

I was employed in a production position for a baked goods company. I had been with them for four years and intended to work there until retirement. Unfortunately the plant had to close.

I am now a Member at Cincinnati Works. I have completed their Job Readiness Workshop and they are now assisting me in my job search. I want to get back to work.

Right now I am looking forward to resuming my career. Once I am back on my feet, I will be able to continue payments on the house and start saving again!

I was born and raised in Cincinnati.

The accomplishment I am most proud of is getting a house. My parents died when I was a teenager, and I felt that I had nowhere to go. I was able to make sure that my children were never in the same situation. They always had a home.

I live by myself and enjoy visits from family. Time that I get to spend with my two grandchildren, ages 7 and 12, is the highlight of my day. I love things like teaching them how to cook.

Something interesting about me is that I am a big reader. I always have my book with me.

Aisha is a talented and experienced woman who I have had the privilege of working with through our organization, Cincinnati Works. Aisha has proven a solid work ethic and a commitment to retain employment. She had been on her most recent job for over four years when the company had to close. Since then, it has been a struggle for her to make ends meet. She has been committed, gracious, and diligent in her quest for finding her next job, and only recently has this new barrier presented itself.

Aisha’s car requires some normal wear and tear type repairs. She lives within the city. We know that in order for Aisha to find a position that will utilize her skills and experience level, she needs to look for employment opportunities on the outskirts of Cincinnati. The city does not have a strong public transportation system connecting to surrounding suburbs – where the employment opportunities in production are located – so Aisha requires a functioning car to even be considered for positions she otherwise qualifies for. With her drive and determination, allowing her to complete these repairs and commute to where there are good paying jobs will help propel her to a life of self-sufficiency and prosperity.
