Overview
My goal is to move upward and onward in my job. I want to be a supervisor. To succeed in my 90 days, I need basics for work in a factory setting and technology to make my transit easier.
This includes a utility knife, a back brace, a new tape measure, and markers, and a new phone to have measurement references and help me track my transportation options and work emails.
A back brace will help with lifting and getting my own knife and other tools will help me to make sure I have everything I need for the job. I also need a new phone so that I have access to the internet, and can pick up those overtime opportunities!
I just got employed after being unemployed for about three years. I work in a plastics manufacturing center and am on my feet for 10-12 hour days four days a week.
Meeting this need will help me because being unemployed left me in debt. I have student loans to pay, and I am trying to pay off my elderly aunt who supported me by letting me stay in her home. By helping me buy these work tools, I will become able to catch up and get to a level playing field!
I'm from Chicago and I live on the South Side of Chicago. I have three sons, age 19, 16, and 12. I'm most proud of my boys.
I'm happiest when I wake up every day. I got a second chance and I am just happy to be alive. Something interesting about me is I actually love theater.

We met when Denzel began coming to The Cara Program in September of 2013. Denzel was a positive force and a happy face you looked forward to seeing every day at Cara, and in January he started his new job in manufacturing. He has been doing great on the job and is already getting positive feedback from his supervisor. We now meet once a month to work on Denzel's goals and personal desire for progress.
I think meeting this need is important because it would put Denzel shoulder-to-shoulder with his co-workers. Having all the tools necessary for the job is only going to make it easier for him to focus on perfecting his skills and eventually moving up at his place of work.
