We received a great update from Chanel at Starfish Family Services!
She says, "Al expresses his gratitude towards the Benevolent donors! He was able to secure new shoes, a few articles of clothing and shoes for his daughter. He was also able to purchase a new mattress and box spring to obtain a good nights rest!"
Overview
I am a 60 year old lifelong resident of the city of Inkster living on a fixed income. I am an active community member and school volunteer. Currently I am in transitional housing due to a house fire that happened in 2012. The insurance company suspended/terminated my payments after 6 months, and there are still some renovations I need completed on my house.
My goals are to find a part-time job to assist me in rebuilding my home after a house fire, and gain full custody of my 3 year old daughter. In order to do this I need to ensure my house is safe. I also would like to continue being active in my community.
A bed, dresser and shoes will help me take that next step to rebuilding my life and home.
Meeting this need will help me because a dresser and bed would assist me in having a place to store my belongings as well as get a good night's rest. This is important because I will be prepared in the morning to find employment, make renovations on my home and continue my volunteer efforts. Assisting me with shoes will help because I need a decent pair of shoes to wear on upcoming job interviews.

Al is an active parent in our Head Start program. He attends various events/functions at our agency and is active in our Foster Grandparents Program. Al was referred to me by the agency's Financial Literacy Coach. It would be great if he were to receive help, as a good night's rest can go a long way!
