Amber from Chicago, IL

Bedbugs infested my children's beds. I need help replacing their mattresses.

I'm a mother of 5 struggling to find a stable job. Meeting this need will give my kids a place to sleep and help me as I try and move forward.

Amber's received her beds! Oct 21, 2014

Thank you again for donating to my need! I was able to purchase a bunk bed and mattresses for my children!

Amber wanted to say "Thank you!" Sep 4, 2014

She says, "I'm very thankful for the donors meeting my need. Now my kids can sleep on a bed instead of on the floor. I'm hoping, one of these days, I can get back on my feet so I can donate to other people's needs just like you did! Thank you again!"

Overview

I am a single mom of five kids. I finally got my Bachelor's degree but I'm having a hard time getting a good paying job.

My goals are to possibly go for my Master's degree, get a better job, buy a usable car and get my own place.

I need a bunk bed and two twin mattresses. I had to throw away my beds because they became infested with bed bugs.

Meeting this need will help me because my kids could sleep on their own beds instead of the floor. This will also help me save so I can move into my own place.

I have been working with Amber since she was referred to me by her son's therapist in October 2013. Amber successfully completed her Bachelor's degree in 2013 but has been struggling to find a stable full time job that offers benefits. I continue to work with Amber on her employment and housing goals. Amber now needs assistance to purchase a bunk bed and two twin mattresses since she had to throw away the ones she had due to being infested with bed bugs. Her children are currently sleeping on the floor. This help would mean so much to the family so Amber's children can have a goodnight sleep. Amber is very resilient and such a joy to work with and I know how much this help would mean to the family.
