Updates

The Cara Program has sent us this update about Willie: Jan 26, 2015

Willie is doing well. He sends his thanks to all that helped fund his need. He's excited that he can cook and have spoons, forks, and knives to eat off of. Again, for all who donated, Willie says "Thank you."

Overview

I'm a 54-year-old man currently working at a job I secured through The Cara Program. I have been working there for a little over 1 year, and after being homeless for 8 years, finally got my own apartment!

My goals are are to obtain a GED, become a drug and alcohol counselor, and to one day own a home.

I need kitchenware for my new apartment. With your help, it would allow me to become more self-sufficient and to live comfortably in my new place.

Meeting this need will help me because at the current time, I can't afford to purchase any of these items. The money I was able to save went to securing an apartment, and now I'm trying to rebuild by savings once again. I'm a person who loves to cook, but it's hard when you don't have the tools to do it.

Need funded!

Thank you for helping Willie fund this need.

I have known Willie through The Cara Program since 2012; we are a job readiness program. In the program students like Willie are assigned IDS (Individual Development Specialist) to retain them for one year of employment. When Willie came in the program, he was staying in a shelter, homeless for 8 long years. Willie didn't allow that to stop him. He came in and embraced all of our classes and passed them all until he landed his job. Now he has his own apartment! It would be wonderful to see Willie happy with the household items he needs to continue him on the track of success.
