Lavon is all settled in his apartment thanks to you! Dec 18, 2014
Lavon is now living in his apartment and is reunited with his ten year old son. He says that he's so very happy and grateful for the Benevolent community's support. We at North Side Housing are also thrilled that Lavon and his son have a home for the holidays. We called to check in on him today and when we asked him what he was up to, he said "Oh, you know, I'm just at home cooking chili." The luxury of making a home cooked meal for his family was impossible without your support. Here's to many more pots of chili in the future for Lavon and his family! Cheers!
A thank you message from Lavon Sep 26, 2014
Margaret, Lavon's validator from North Side Housing and Supportive Services, sent us a wonderful message!
She says, "Lavon is so pleased with the outpouring of support that the Benevolent community has shown in the past week. He's very excited to be able to move into his apartment and already has signed the lease! He sends his extreme gratitude and says "God Bless!" We'll update you with information as soon as he's all moved in."
Overview
My name is Lavon and I am trying to better my life. I recently became homeless due to substance abuse. I have now been sober for one year and am trying to move on from my current situation. I'm employed but need assistance in getting a security deposit for a new apartment. I have a ten year old son who loves to skateboard and would like to have a home where he can play video games to his heart's content.
My goals are to take care of my family and be a productive member of society. I am also working on the goal of life-long sobriety.
I've been approved for an apartment and am able to pay rent moving forward. I need help with paying for the security deposit. I've already saved a portion of the deposit, and am asking for help with the remaining amount.
Meeting this need will help me because I'm not able to save for the full amount at this time and do not want to lose this opportunity. This will also help me reunite with my son who is living with his older brother at this time. I'm looking forward to being reunited with my family and moving on. Thank you for your consideration in donating.
Need funded!

Lavon is currently a participant in our Day Support Services Center. North Side Housing's staff is currently working with Lavon on goals surrounding housing, employment retention, and much more. As a new client, Lavon has demonstrated respect, self-worth, confidence, and hope for the future that he is working hard to obtain. He has shown commitment to his long-term goals through his high motivation as he successfully found housing for himself and his family on his own, maintains two jobs, and has been active in the programs available through the shelter he stays at. Securing funding for his security deposit is the last thing that stands between him becoming housed and reuniting with his son. Thank you for your support!
