Overview
I am a single father of 13-year-old boy and was formally incarcerated. My son and I spend the better part of the last year and a half in two homeless shelters. Now, I have two part-time jobs and trying to make a better life for my son and myself.
My goals are to hopefully get hired full time with the City of Oakland and continue to strive to be a good role model for my son.
I need some furniture for my son and I first apartment. Being that this is our first we have no furniture. We are hoping to a couch and love seat.
Meeting this need will help me because being a single parent I don't have much extra income after bills. Without this help, getting furniture will be very difficult, because I spent most of my savings on the deposit and getting my son a bed and dresser for his room.
Need funded!
Thank you for helping Mike fund this need.

I have known Mike through the weekly housing workshops I conduct at B.O.S.S. housing sites. I have been working with Mike since May 2014 and helped him find an affordable apartment for himself and his son. Although Mike has been through a lot of negative things in his life, he is a very positive and hardworking person. Mike currently has two part-time jobs and hope that his part time job with the City of Oakland will turn into a permanent position.
