I'm staying with family friends & need bedding items to sleep comfortably

My son and I need 2 futons, 2 small space heaters, and bedding to keep us warm this winter. Our air mattresses have punctured so we need new bedding.

Overview

I am a single mother and have a son who's in college. We're currently living with friends as we try to relocate and find our own stable housing.

My goals are to secure stable housing for myself, my son, and our two dogs. I would eventually like to go back to school, but I'm excited to see my son graduate from school in two years. I would eventually like to give back to others who are in need as well.

My son and I are in need of two futons, two small space heaters, and some bedding needs. We have been staying with family friends for several years while we work with legal consultants to resolve our housing issues.

Meeting this need will help us because we currently have two air mattresses, but both have been punctured and are not in good condition. The space we are staying in has a concrete floor, so we need space heaters to stay warm. We will be happy to move these things with us as soon as our housing situation is finalized with the help of our legal consultants.

I first met Kellie when she came to the EDSSC requesting a referral for eyeglass services for herself and her son. After further discussion, I learned Kellie and her son were displaced and staying in a friend's basement while they continue to work with legal consultants to secure a more stable and safe housing situation. Kellie is very proactive and focused on a better life for her and her son, who is currently a sophomore in college. While Kellie and her son are still in the process of securing their own independent housing, having a few simple things like futons to sleep on and space heaters to stay warm will make their temporary living situation more comfortable.
