Kelly from Chicago, IL

Working to make ends meet for me & my child. I need protective welding gear.

I've overcome a lot in my life & I'm looking forward to my welding career. I can't afford the required gear, but once I get it, I'll be able to work.

I am a single mother working hard to make ends meet, but never have any money to save up for the protective welding gear that I am required to have for work. My background consists primarily of extensive customer service, with my education centered around the medical field of radiology.

I did not discover my passion for welding until I began to learn the trade at the Jane Addams Resource Corporation's training program. I thoroughly enjoy welding and am excited about the many demands for certified welders in the manufacturing workforce, as well as opportunities for growth.

I want to be well prepared for the job I am hired for, which will definitely boost my confidence. Sometimes you have to humble yourself and ask for help when you can't do it on your own.

With financial assistance, my child and my future will have the promise of security, stability, and hope. Thank all of you who have taken a moment to hear my need and have decided to help me meet my financial goal.

In late September, Kelly became one of our first students at our new Welding training program at Jane Addams Resource Corporation in Addison, IL. I quickly noticed her enthusiasm and drive to succeed, both of which will be instrumental to her successful job search. As a single mom, she has had to juggle the challenge of her job training as well as her job as a parent. And although she is in transitional housing, she remains dedicated to her goal of securing a career as a welder. And she does this with an impossibly upbeat attitude and a smile that you can’t help but smile back at. With a little help, the sky is the limit for Kelly.
