Newly housed veteran. Help me purchase a bus pas to travel to interviews!

I am determined to enter a job training program, but walking to opportunities is extremely difficult. I need a bus card to travel to these interviews.

I am a 55-year-old veteran. I was homeless for 4 years, and now I am housed with North Side Housing and Supportive Services. While I was homeless, I worked as many general labor jobs as I could. Now that I am housed, I want permanent work.

My goal is to be independent and return to full-time work. I like working with my hands, so I would like to do woodworking or construction. I am looking to join a job training program to build the skills I need to find permanent, full-time employment.

I need to be able to travel to interviews for job training programs. Once I am accepted into a program, I will get assistance with transportation, but right now I cannot get to the initial interviews. Right now, I am walking everywhere, and I have missed interviews that are miles from my house when they are early in the morning. I need a bus card to travel to these interviews.

Meeting this need will help me because I have motivation to show up early, work hard, and succeed in a job training program. I just need to be able to travel to interview for these programs.

I have known Quincy since December 2015. He is a participant in our Permanent Supportive Housing Program. Quincy's first goal was to become housed. Now, that he is permanently housed, he is committed to finding employment. Quincy is kind and dependable and would greatly benefit from the consistency of a job placement program. Quincy is so committed to completing his goals that he walks 16 miles to the VA for health care. I strongly believe that with some basic transportation assistance, he will placed quickly in a job training program.
