EJ from Chicago, IL

Singer overcoming homelessness. I need a mic & amp to do what I love & rebuild.

I'm a teacher & vocalist who lost my apartment last fall. Performing will let me find peace while earning extra money to move into stable housing.

Overview

I am a jazz and blues vocalist. I lost my apartment in September 2015 due to foreclosure and gentrification. I am currently residing in a women's shelter and working towards finding ways to increase my income. I work part-time as an after-school teacher.

My goals are to find sustainable housing and to secure funds for my music as a additional means of income. I love to sing, and I would love to have the opportunity to use my talents to secure more income and find peace of mind.

I need a good microphone and a PA system for singing gigs. I perform with a band as well as solo with a pianist. When soloing with the pianist I need my own amp and mic. Having my own mic and amp would open my performances to additional venues and increase income.

I have a passion for singing and music. I have gained recognition over the past few years as a jazz and blues vocalist and now I'm ready to share my talents with others while lifting myself up.

EJ is a lovely lady who came to seek our services recently. She is very motivated to redeem herself form the state of homelessness. Allowing her to work towards her goal of singing independently will get her there sooner.
