Glennis

Glennis from Chicago, IL

After being hit by a car, bus passes will help me get around and get back to work.

I need help acquiring bus cards so I can search for employment. After my accident, I haven't been able to get around and find a job.

Overview

I am a bricklayer, janitor, and landscaper. I was hit by a car so I'm struggling now. I love my family and I like to help out everybody and volunteer.

My goals are to get back to work.Due to my injuries it is difficult for me to walk long distances, making it hard to search for jobs.

I need help trying to get bus cards so I can search for employment. I currently have no income coming in.

Meeting this need will help me because I can look for employment.

I met Glennis when he was referred to our housing program in May. Glennis fell on hard times and was no longer able to support himself after he was hit by a car and had to undergo knee surgery. Thankfully, we were able to move Glennis into a subsidized studio apartment. Glennis has been extremely grateful for the opportunity and has been vigorously working to rehab his knee so that he can begin working once it is healed. I assisted Glennis with an application for a free-ride/disability bus card, but the application takes up to 8 weeks to process. So, in the mean time, we are asking for funding to purchase Glennis with a month long bus pass so that he can begin to search for jobs and network in the community.
