Tony from Chicago, IL

Just got a new, full-time job but need my driver's license to keep it

Since my new job requires a driver's license, I need to get it back to keep working. I'm the main provider for my family and blessed to be working.

Overview

My current situation is I have obtained a full time employment and I am blessed to be working.

My job title is truck helper. I have been in this position since December 5, 2012. My work involves loading and uploading/making pick ups and deliveries as a truck helper. What I like about my job is I get to meet different people and make a difference because I work with places that assist the needy with food. The unfortunate part of this is that the position requires me to have a driver's license, which I can't get reinstated until I am able to pay the fines. I am financially unable to do so and will lose my job.

In the future, I would like to drive the trucks. The pay and benefits are better and would allow me to provide better for my family.

Due to my driver's license being suspended due to fines over several years old I will be unable to keep my job.

Right now, my biggest challenge is that I am the main provider of my family and I just started my new job. I will find it challenging to stretch my pay to cover my transportation need.

I think of myself mostly as a positive person and a family man. I'm most proud of being a father and a role model to my son.

I live with my family. I went to school at Austin Academy. I've worked at jobs including cashier and after school assistant.

Something interesting about me is that I love to be with my family.

I have known Tony for about 6 months now. He was referred to me to assist him with attaining employment. We were successful in doing so but his current position is based on him having a valid drivers license. Which he can't pay; as a truck helper, his wages barely allow him to make ends meet.

I think meeting this need is important because it will allow him not only to keep his job but to move up in the company.

This will move Tony's life forward by allowing him to stay employed and be promoted for better wages and benefits.
