God bless and thank you Dec 27, 2018

My family and I say thanks for these gifts to help us. I am touched how people so far away are caring to help me and my children. Thank you god bless you for the good spirit.

Overview

My name is Bright and I am a 30 year old single mother. I have two twin 12 year olds, one nine year old, and one six year old. With the birth of my last child, I got a fistula and my husband abandoned us. I own 1/4 acre of land that I use for farming, and I am a house helper for 1500 kes ($15) per month.

My goal is to lease more land so that I can have more income than I get from being a house helper. I just completed a farm skills training program and feel better prepared to be able to grow food for my family and hopefully to have extra to sell in the market.

I need funds ($240) to lease an acre of land, buy seeds, fertilizer and some farming tools. I also plan to purchase some chickens and a goat.

Meeting this need will help me grow enough food to feed my four children and sell the excess at market to pay their school fees. The eggs from the chickens and the milk from the goat will help to feed my family.

Bright just completed our farm training seminar. She was abandoned by her husband after having an obstetric fistula. She has been struggling to feed and house her four children with her $15 per month income. She has a good business plan to lease land, grow crops, raise chickens and a goat. The food from the land will feed her family and any excess can be sold at the market. She is a strong, resilient woman and is determined to work hard to create a better life for her children. Beyond Fistula will be following up with her and supporting her in her efforts.
